First Local Fair in Baytown, Trxas

ree

So I am super excited that me and Trinity both got to participate in our very first Fair! We had such a cute booth and can NOT wait to try it again. I think the more you do it the easier it becomes! So here are some flaws we can fix and some ideas to make the experience better and easier. Hopefully these tips will help you out also in your own creative fair adventure!

Tip one: Bring a pop up canopy and buy some weights. You never really know where exactly your spot is gonna be and you wanna be prepared for windy days and nothing to fancy you want to be able to easily put it up and take it down but it definitely helps with Shade!

Tip 2: Do NOT forget to bring a small lock box full of some cash. Not too much but at least 100$ I would have 2 $(20), 1$(20 )5$(4), and 10$(2). This way you can break allmoat anything they buy. Talking about money, you can always download apps, like cash app, Lemon, PayPal, and zelle. Most people have at least one of these apps and as long as you have them to its fairly easy for them to pay you that way. But as a warning, some people believe those apps are sketchy so now we can talk about tip 3.

Tip 3: Invest in a site called Sqaure. It also has an app but you are the only one that actually needs it. You can sign up completly free. It's best if you have your own legal bussines name and have registered it allready but if not, that's OK too, it won't stop you from selling. Squares platform allows you to link your bank account to your account and then they send you a free byssiness card in your name. They have many different options on how to take care payments very easily. Some equipment is on the expensive side that's typically for more of a store setting. But for 10$ they will issue a card slide reader that plugs into your iphone/iPad jack. Or your smart phone android jack. This makes people feel more at ease and they also get to sign for their purchase keeping you and them from fraud activity.

Tip 4: Bring chairs and a small ice chest. Fairs can sometimes take a couple of hours but why waste money on the taco truck when you can just bring your own snacks and drinks?

Tip 5: Always keep your business cards visible. I don't know what you create or design to sell but I create jewelry and herbal products. So if my customer is unsure on if they want to spend money on a tincture they know nothing about, they can always just check it out online and make a decision there instead. (I also add 5 print outs of description of each and place them on a frame on the front of booth so they can also be informed that way.) As for the jewelry bring a mirror so customers can see what might look good and what might not. (Print outs that are framed of past best selling jewelry are also nice to look at when customers stop by.

Tip 6: I always ALWAYS always, give a free gift to all my customers who by a product from me

Online or in person they each get a small inexpensive handmade gift for purchasing an item and this is a way that I can thank them and show them I appreciate there bussines.

Tip 7: Please bring at least 2 tables so that you can set up around you and you won't miss anyone who stops by because a display is in your way. And never pressure anyone to buy something they are unsure about. Tell them, "Thank you for stopping by, I hoped you enjoyed looking at my products, the your time looking around and please come back if you change your mind."

Tip 8: Prices can sometimes vary but try your best ro keep firm on your items prices. Hand made and custom designs are hard work, take a lot of time, and cost a lot out of pocket especially starting out. Don't let people underestimate your price because you need to profit too. Breaking even is honestly just a waste of time and unfortunately some people can't help but to try and take advantage.

Well I hope this helps you in your future fair adventures! I will probably learn something helpful and new everything we go in the future. We are also located in Hluston, Texas. So if your ever near the city or surrounding cities look around and see if we are there! We would love to meet you and get to know ALL our customers!
